Things are heating up in Sydney and Melbourne 🔥

Greetings ,

Welcome to your July Edition of the Code for Australia newsletter.

This month we have a few updates to share and many more opportunities to get involved with our work, and the work of other great organisations out there. We are just a small part in a large network of people doing good stuff across Australia, after all.

First, an invite to our Sydney friends. The Base Team will be up your way this Thursday for a lunchtime Open House, our bi-monthly event that gives you a behind the scenes look at how we're working with government to build capability along with new technology. This month, we'll be hearing from teams working alongside Service NSW and Digital NSW and we'd absolutely love to see you there.

June turned out to be a big one for us, as we ran two Tech for Non Tech classes in Melbourne and Sydney, ran our second Civic Makers event in Melbourne and began work on our upcoming Digital Maturity Assessments with the Public Service Commission and the Better Regulation teams.

In exciting news, we're in the final stages of choosing a third member of our Base Team to join myself and Matt. Hopefully we'll be introducing you to them in the next update, or on the blog soon, along with a reflection on our recruitment process! We learned a lot.

As always it's great to have you in our community, thanks for letting us be a part of your inbox.

Achievements

Small steps in a good direction lead to great things. Here's a few things we think are definitely worth celebrating.

We were thrilled to receive funding from the Telematics Trust to help us launch, test and grow the Civic Makers community and events across Australia this year. There's whispers of Sydney and Brisbane following the Melbourne model soon. If this is something you might be interested in, hit reply to let Grace know. Here's where you can find out about the sessions we've run to date.

Our Fellows have been working hard the past month (and every month) to not only transform government from the inside out, but reflect on it constantly and share where they're at. Congrats to all three of our teams for getting our these amazing blog posts this month: CenITex (Murph, Yalda and Julian), Service NSW (Michelle, Adrian and Kynan) and Digital NSW (Damian and Kate).
