Two new Fellowships and big changes to the Base Team
The Base Team with five incredible new Fellows (and one government host) during induction week in Sydney last week

Hey there ,

Welcome to the March edition of the Code for Australia civic tech newsletter, where we share news on what's happening from the team, things we're reading and loving, and ways to get involved in using tech for good in Australia and around the world.

If there's something you think we should add to the newsletter, or if you have any feedback, my door is always open here or by email.

Update time! We've kicked off March by onboarding two amazing Fellowship teams up in Sydney, who'll be working alongside the good people at Service NSW and the Digital NSW Accelerator (DNA). Keep an eye out for their first blog post soon!

The induction week was a bittersweet experience for us, as it also marked the final week with Lina Patel on the Base Team. We'll miss the depth and care she brings to everything she does as well as the many laughs, chats and learning that's marked the past two years.

And in other big news - the irreplaceable Alvaro Maz, who has captained Code for Australia for almost five years has announced he's looking for a new skipper.

It's a time of big changes, but also exciting possibilities as we continue to ponder the ways that government and technology can come together to have a positive impact on people's lives.

We're so glad to have you here on this journey and we can't wait to share more about what's ahead in the coming months.

Small steps in a good direction lead to great things. Here's a few things we think are definitely worth celebrating.

This month, we want to honour the impact and many achievements of Lina Patel during her time with us. While there are too many to specifically call out, Lina has made every program at Code for Australia a joy to be a part of - through her attention to detail, care for all involved and critical thinking. She's co-captained the ship, put out fires, perfected the recipe for things to hum and ensured we continue to share the power we hold while opening many more doors. But don't take our word for it - here's what the team has to say.
