We have a new captain and we'd love you to meet him!
Our brand new Fellowship team with the Base Team and government hosts from Cenitex

Hey there ,

Welcome to your May Edition of the Code for Australia newsletter! As always it's great to have you in our community. Thanks for letting us be a part of your inbox.

You might've heard our big news this month, but if not, we'd love to share with you that we have a new Managing Director - Matt Sawkill - who'll be taking over the reins from Alvaro in the coming months.

We're beyond excited to have him join us and can't wait to share what he has in store for Code for Australia, with you, our community. To do so, we're holding a very special edition of our Open House next week and we'd love to have you there.

In other news, we have officially kicked off another Fellowship in Melbourne working alongside Cenitex. This is another new spin on a Fellowship for us, with the team made up of a designer, developer and data scientist. Keep your eyes out for a first blog post from the team soon!

Until next time, keep being amazing.

Achievements

Small steps in a good direction lead to great things. Here's a few things we think are definitely worth celebrating.

Matt joining the team is definitely something we've been celebrating loudly. With an incredible technical background, Matt marks the first person on the Base Team to bring the code back into the name (amongst many other talents). We are loving his energy and ideas so far - read on here for what else he's planning.

We're also excited to have ticked off all the ground work in our Code for All exchange, which is enabling us to roll out our Tech for Non Tech class to partners in South Africa and Japan. After eight weeks of preparations and late night calls, Lina and Ben from our facilitator network have headed over to Cape Town to run two classes this week!
